Toy Recalls that Make Me Laugh

Okay I don't know about all you internet people out there but I love going to walmart and target like stores and walking up to the customer service couter. Why do I like to do this you might ask, Well its where they have the toy recalls. I love reading why they were recalled. I know a lot of the time they sound terrible but in a weird way I think they are funny. So here we go you have to read the hazard and the Incidents/Injuries sections.

Name of Product: Dive Sticks

Units: About 365,000

Importer: Target, of Minneapolis, Minn.

Hazard: The recalled dive sticks could remain in an upright position, posing an impalement hazard to young children. CPSC banned pre-weighted dive sticks in 2001.

HAHAHA......impalement.....HAHAHHAHAHA I don't know how hard you would have to fall on these things to have them impale you. I mean they have a blunt ends if you did get impaled one thing is for sure it's going to really really hurt.

Name of Product: Rage Wireless Guitars

Units: About 57,000

Manufacturer/Distributor: Performance Designed Products LLC, of Sherman Oaks, Calif.

Hazard: A circuit board defect can cause AA batteries used in the guitar to leak if the batteries are installed incorrectly, posing a risk of chemical burns to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Performance Designed Products has received one report of a burn to a consumer.

There's nothing like a good chemical burn while your trying to play guitar hero. HAHAHA and it happened to at least one person.

Name of Products: Nerf™ N-Strike Recon Blasters

Units: About 330,000 units

Manufacturer: Hasbro Inc., of Pawtucket, R.I.

Hazard: The blaster’s plunger can pull the user’s skin during firing of the toy blaster resulting in injury to the face, neck, and/or chest.

Incidents/Injuries: Hasbro and CPSC have received 46 reports of injury to children aged 4 to 12, resulting in bruising, abrasions, pinching/pinch marks, blood blisters and welts.

Okay this one come on man I mean its a gun it's supposed to hurt people. What kind of people are calling the toy company saying "my son was pinched by this gun" it's just a pinch calm down.

Name of Product: “Protocol” Remote-Controlled Mini Helicopter Toys

Units: About 78,000

Importer: Ashley Collection Inc., d.b.a. Protocol, of New York, N.Y.

Hazard: The rechargeable battery inside the helicopter can overheat. This can result in the helicopter’s body melting, as well as a risk of fire or burns to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received nine reports of incidents of the helicopter overheating, including one minor burn to a consumer’s fingertip.

I love how specific these are " And one person even burned their finger tip" boo hooo. I burnt my finger tip I'm going to call the toy company.

Name of Product: Toy Penguin Figures

Units: About 3,000

Manufacturer: Plan Toy Inc., of Mountain View, Calif.

Hazard: The head of the penguin toy can detach, exposing connectors with sharp points, presenting a laceration hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Plan Toys has received one report of the head of a penguin toy detaching. No injuries have been reported.

oh that sounds like fun you play with this thing the head comes off and gives you a nice cut. NICE. Only one person has seen it happen good thing they aren't jumping to conclusions.

Name of Product: Rock ‘N Ride Plush Rocker Toys

Units: About 122,000

Manufacturer: Tek Nek Toys Int’l L.P., of Southlake, Texas

Hazard: The base of the rocker can become unstable and allow the rocker to tip forward or backward, posing a fall hazard to children.

Incidents/Injuries: Tek Nek Toys has received 35 reports of the rockers tipping over, including ten reports of injuries such as bumps, bruises and lacerations.

Oh wow yeah that actually sound like a lot more fun than actually riding it.

Name of Product: Redcat Racing FM Remote Controlled Vehicles

Units: About 1,400

Distributor: Redcat Racing Co., of Phoenix, Ariz.

Hazard: The remote control unit can lose its signal, causing the toy vehicle to lose control, posing a risk of injury to the user or bystanders.

Incidents/Injuries: Redcat Racing has received about 15 reports of remote control malfunctions. There have been no injuries reported.

Watch out runaway RC car!

Name of Product: Toy Pirate Swords

Units: About 6,000

Manufacturer: The Gymboree Corp., of San Francisco, Calif.

Hazard: The swords can break, creating a sharp point, which poses a laceration hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Gymboree has received 11 reports of the sword breaking. No injuries have been reported.

Its a sword anyone who knows anything about parenting knows that kids will hurt themselves with toys like these. In fact that's why I like them. HAHA shakes things up a bit.

Name of Product: Mini Zooper Doll Strollers

Units: About 21,000

Manufacturer: Lan Enterprises, of Beaverton, Ore.

Hazard: A child’s finger can become caught in the rectangular metal clip or the black plastic side hinge, and this can sever a child’s finger tip. Also, the strollers pose an entrapment hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: Pottery Barn Kids has received three reports of serious lacerations, including one partial finger severing on a 2 year old boy.

Oh WOW that sucks I lost a finger to a stroller.

Name of Product: Easy-Bake Ovens

Units: About 1 million

Manufacturer: Easy-Bake, a division of Hasbro, Inc., of Pawtucket, R.I

Hazard: Young children can insert their hands into the oven's front opening, and get their hands or fingers caught, posing entrapment and burn hazards.

Incidents/Injuries: Since the repair program announced in February, Easy-Bake has received 249 reports of children getting their hands or fingers caught in the oven's opening, including 77 reports of burns, 16 of which were reported as second and third-degree burns. Easy-Bake also received one report of a serious burn that required a partial finger amputation to a 5-year-old girl.

So I guess in access of cooking brownies you can also get your hand caught and give yourself 3rd degree burns. NICE.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), JA-RU Inc., of Jacksonville, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 43,000 "Blast Balls" toys. When struck together, the toys create a cracking sound similar to that of a cap gun. The directions instruct consumers to strike one ball against the other in the palm of hand to create the cracking sound. When consumers strike the "Blast Balls" together, sparks can ignite, posing a burn hazard.

CPSC and JA-RU have received six reports of injuries, including minor burns to hands and fingers.

Okay I like this one becuase when you do what they tell you in the instructions it hurts you.LOL YES.

Okay that's it for now but I think you get my point. Next time you go into a walmart, Toys R Us or a Target find the posters and try not to laugh in public. ;)
