iBottleopener - iPhone case that doubles as a bottle opener
Tuesday, August 31, 2010 2:31 PM

why should an iPhone case just be a way to keep your iPhone safe from drops and scratches? We have iPhone cases that do all sorts of things like ones that have batteries built in. Still others that are made out of unusual materials like the ones made entirely of wood, so why not one that has a bottle opener built in. There are of course a thousand ways to open a beer bottle but having the iBottleopener is got to be one of the more fun ways to go about doing it. Just one more thing the iPhone can do. So next time your friend is being a smart ass and asks you if your iPhone can open your beer for you can say "of course it can!"

Live Action Skeet Shooting Game - Product Video!
Monday, August 09, 2010 12:20 PM

From the same people who brought you the live action duck hunt game comes the live action skeet shooting game. You have a little IR gun and you have to try and hit the target. When you do the skeet breaks apart in mid air. The skeets are only shot 7 feet in the air so this is a game you could play inside. I think its a great idea and I would love to have one. They are on the market now and can be found over at Hammacher Schlemmer. Watch the video and start at about :58 to see the product they don't show it shooting the skeet but they do show it breaking apart.

Where to Buy the Motz Mini Radio!
Wednesday, August 04, 2010 10:32 AM

So you might be familiar with the Motz Mini FM Radios that were all the rage back in January. You also might be familiar with Motz previously known product the Wooden Acorn Radio. Well you might be asking yourself thats all well and good but where do a buy one? Well I finally found a place online that sells these things. A lot of the sites that posted about the Motz products linked to some Korean site that no longer sells them.

I found them over at Pyramid Distribution! They are $45 each, which sounds pretty steap, but these little radios are all hand made and are hard to find. They both operate as a radio and external speaker, and have a rechargeable battery which you can charger via USB. These little Motz Radios make for a great unique gift that the recipient is sure to love.

Canon Lens Mug - I want it! Who wants to buy me one?
Tuesday, August 03, 2010 1:09 PM

I'm sure you have seen the Nikon Thermos and even prehaps the Canon thermos that was given out at the Olympics as a promotional item. If not you should check them out they are pretty neat. For people who just want a cup of coffee in an interesting mug that show those around you your love for photography and your geekyness then this is the mug for you.

The Canon lens themos, if I'm not mistaken, is no longer available for purchase online. So this is your chance to get your hands on your very own Canon Lens Mug. I saw that someone started making the Nikon ones, but I have always been a fan of Canon. I was glad to see someone selling a newer looking Canon lens mug and I got to have one.

The mug looks just like a Canon 24-105mm lens and has a lens-cap, which is the lid and the focus and zoom rings are actually rubber grips. It even has a auto-focus switch that actually works. HAHA nice. I want one! Who wants to buy it for me?

As you can see the t-shirt features a robot with the top hand featuring the bottle opener. Magnetic Putty - The Blob that Eats Magnets!
Tuesday, July 06, 2010 12:17 PM

This product reminds me of the movie "The Blob", you know that old horror movie where the alien blob takes over a city. When you see this thing absorb the magnet that was the first thing that entered my mind. I happen to really like magnet toys I think they are fascinating. I have a set of the BuckyBalls that I love and have written about before. This little magnet toy is like Silly Putty, but it's magnetic. You most likely need a really strong magnet to see the kind of effect in the video. It's a sure buy for $13.50 and can also be played with just like regular silly putty. You can find it cheaper other places, but keep in mind that the super strong magnet is included at Vat19 and not on other sites.

Ice Straws - Chill your beverage while drinking it!
Wednesday, June 30, 2010 1:01 PM

This is perhaps the most creative use of ice I have ever seen. Why not have a straw made of ice? Sure it's going to melt eventually, but if you are making a cocktail or some other fancy beverage these ice straws from thinkgeek are just the thing to spice it up. The ice try is made out of silicone and makes six 8 inch straws.

Don't forget that you can use whatever liquid you want to make your straws. So you could use plain water or something more exciting like lemonade or a fruit juice. Also alcohol doesn't freeze well, so you might want to stick to pretty much any other liquid. Next time you make a cocktail or fancy fruit drink or smoothie try garnishing it with a flavored ice straw.

You can get your very own ice straw tray for only $7.99.

LCD Peephole Viewer - Your door wants an LCD too!
Wednesday, June 09, 2010 1:50 PM

If you have a peephole installed on your door and you are a bit of a geek like me then this next Geek Gadget is for you. It's a LCD security viewer, it replaces the existing peep hole in doors 1-3/8" to 2-1/4" thick. When someone knocks on the door all you have to do is hit the little button and you are presented with a 2.5” view of the person standing there. Oh sure the standard peephole worked just fine, but why not install a mini LCD on your front door? Am I right? Come on it's common sense!

Amphibious Air Soft Tank – Can shoot from land and sea!
Thursday, May 27, 2010 2:38 PM

I have always secretly wanted an air soft tank! I think they are cool, if you are going to have a R/C tank why not have it shoot something am I right? Well not only is this a R/C Tank that shoots Air Soft bullets 20 meters, but you can also drive and control it through water. The wheels fold up into the the top of the tank and allows it to float in water. When you come back to land they unfold and you're off driving around again. Pretty sweet little toy if I do say so myself. I can never have enough R/C toys.

BBQ Sword - Fend off Attackers and Defend your BBQ
Wednesday, May 19, 2010 2:34 PM

I'm a big fan of BBQ and cook a mean pork shoulder if I do say so myself. Having said that having a grilling tool that resembles a sword makes the Geek side of me scream with excitement. YAY I can finally pretend I'm one of the three musketeers trying to defend the King's BBQ from evil. The adult side of me says that it's stupid and isn't worth $27 bucks stupid.com is asking for it! My Geek side is saying PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!

Glowing Bocce Ball Set
Tuesday, May 18, 2010 2:10 PM

Have you ever played bocce ball? Well just in case you haven't it's kind of like horse shoes but with balls. You throw a little white ball and each of the players have to try and get their ball the closest to the white ball as possible. You get points of you are the closest and more points if you are the first and second closest. It's a fun game but you can't play at night for obvious reasons, you can't see the ball!

Enter in the illuminated bocce ball set! They are regulation size made out of hard plastic so they are not quite as heavy as regulation bocce balls are. Each ball has a switch that allows you to turn the LED inside on and off. You can even make the balls flash instead of being constantly on which might make for an interesting game. The set also comes with a measuring string and nylon case for the balls.

MacBook Business Card Holder – Apple Fan Boys and Girls Rejoice
Thursday, May 06, 2010 2:37 PM

This is the perfect gift for the business minded Apple fan boy or girl. It's a Macbook business card holder. It is sure to display your geekyness and comes in Macbook, Macbook pro and Macbook Air versions. You can also get ones that come with a compact mirror in the top, which might be a nice feature for the ladies. Your business card holder can double as a mirror for makeup touchups. The little card holders are about $30 which isn't bad for a unique business card holder I think.

Monty Python’s Ministry of Silly Walks Watch
Thursday, April 29, 2010 12:15 PM

I think one of my favorite Monty Python Flying Circus skits was the Ministry of Silly Walks. The skit shows an employee of the ministry walking to work with his silly walk and the skit continues when they have an applicant trying to get a grant to develop his silly walk. It's a classic skit and is definitely one of the greats.

Now you can get the official Ministry of Silly Walks watch. The watch face features John Cleese were his legs represent the hour and minute hands of the clock. The watch also comes in a tin that features the different stages of his silly walk. This is a must have item for Monty Python fans for sure.

Civet Cat Coffee - Harvested from Poop and Sold to you at Insane Prices
Wednesday, April 28, 2010 10:26 AM

Have you ever wondered what the most expensive coffee in the world is? Well here it is, it's known as Kopi Luwak and only about 500 Kg of it is harvested every year. Why only 500 Kg? Well because a little animal sort of like a raccoon, called a Civet Cat, eats the coffee cherry and poops out the bean. People harvest the beans, which have fermented inside the cats digestive track, clean them and make coffee out of them. A pound of Kopi Luwak coffee can sell for as much as $300 in the US. I have never had a cup of Kopi Luwak but I hear that it's one very tasty cup of coffee. You can get a little sample of Kopi Luwak over at think geek. The amount in the bag will most likely only make about 5 - 10 cups of coffee depending on the proportions, but you will get to say that you have had the most expensive coffee in the world.
