Leica i9 iPhone Camera Concept - WANT
Tuesday, April 26, 2011 4:04 PM

I know it's just a concept and probably way to expensive to be practical, pricing being considered at $900 - $1,200. How awesome would this be though to have a Leica camera that housed your iPhone like a case. This concept from Black DA would make for a true camera phone.

The camera is independent from the iphone's camera using the iPhone as a screen and storage device. You could, of course, us the iPhone to upload your images to the cloud for sharing and editing. Oh how nice it would be to have an actual camera attached to my phone rather than the lame one that's built in. If I had the money and this product actually existed I would be all about it.

$40 Ring Flash Adapter - Get the Flash for less Cash!
Monday, February 28, 2011 12:07 PM

Ring Flashes are great it's just they cost a pretty penny. So what is a amateur photographer to do when I don't have the money to drop on such a thing. Well it seems the Ring Flash adapter is a good place to start. This device uses the flash that you already have to deliver nice soft light and a professional look to your photographs. So it doesn't need batteries and simply fits onto your existing hot shoe flash. Sure it's not going to be as good as the real thing, but come on it's only $40 bucks and you get to have a pretty decent effect.

Light Strike - Laser Tag Like You Have Never Seen Before!
Monday, February 21, 2011 1:56 PM

When I was young I use to love to play laser tag. It was high tech back then, or at least it felt that way, and with Laser tag joints popping up here and there I think everyone has played it least once. Well a new laser tag product is about to hit the market from the people who brought you Paper Jamz. The product is called Light Strike and it brings new and interesting features to laser tag.

The Light Strike laser tag guns have the same look and touch technology as the Paper Jamz toy. It has unique features like a fingerprint ID scanner, long-range LED targeting, built-in health and ammo meters. You can also buy upgrades to your gun including a machine gun bipod with recoil action, a scope attachment for long distance shots, and a grenade launcher. Light Strike comes with gun options that let you change the fire rate and color of the gun. Ammo is limited and has an indicator on the clip on the bottom. To reload just press the button on the bottom of the clip. Learn more with the overly dramatic video below.

TankBot - iPhone Controlable and Maze Solving Desk Toy!
Wednesday, February 16, 2011 4:06 PM

Awwwww isn't it cute? It's a little tank robot that can run around your desk and distract you from doing actual work. This little guy has three modes autonomous, maze solving and iOS controlled. It's equipped with two LED eyes and 2 infrared transmitters that help it navigate a maze. If you are wondering how you can control this little guy with your iOS device it comes with a infrared dongle you plug into your device and free application you can download from the App store. You get 15 minutes of play with 30 minutes of charging and it comes with a USB dongle that plugs into the back of the Tankbot. The Tankbot will be out in June and available for $20, which is a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Bullet Counter - Just like a Video game!
Monday, January 31, 2011 1:28 PM

I love little toys and gadgets but I also love video games and guns. This product, which according to the video's description is going to go into production at some point, allows you to keep track of how many bullets are left in using a digital display.

The little box is basically a micro controller that has an accelerometer in it. When a shot is fired it measures the recoil and if it's over 22.5g it's registered as a shot. The counter then times out to prevent secondary vibrations from being counted as a shot. It's a pretty interesting device and could come in handy. Though to be useful in the field it would need to auto-reset after a reload which I'm not sure it can do.

The maker of this product has said there was a patent out for something like this, but it has since expired and is now in the public domain. He is currently working on a website and is going to produce the product as soon as he irons everything out.

Flipit - Charges USB when all outlets are full
Thursday, January 27, 2011 1:24 PM

Have you ever been at a hotel or coffee shop and can't help but see people jockeying for an outlet. All you want to do is plug in your Laptop and charge your phone but you don't want to be a jerk and take up an entire outlet to do so. Well the flipit is here to solve that problem. The Flipit is a little device that you put a regular outlet plug through which then allows you to only use one outlet rather than hog both of them.

The little dongle swings from the tab and gets it's power from the plugs contacts. You can now be courteous to your fellow laptop toting businessman, but also get to charge your devices and be on your way.

It think this is a great idea I only wish the Flipit also came with a plug so you could use it without another device plugged in. Also the $16 price tag might be a bit much for me considering all you really need it a splitter which cost a couple bucks and is still pretty portable. All in all a cool product check out the link below.

Snowdozer - Finally an ice scraper that is double sided!
Monday, January 17, 2011 11:02 AM
This little guy is called the Snowdozer and it's an ice scraper. What's so great about this ice scraper is that it has two blades letting you can scrape in both directions. I have mentioned in other posts that I'm new to winter weather and the traditional design of ice scraper was starting to get to me. Why not have blades on both sides?

The Snowdozer also features a telescoping handle and grip at the head for more force and leverage while scraping. It also comes equipped with a brush on one side for sweeping the snow off, which is a must.

I think this product is great, so much so I have already committed to purchasing one when they reach their pre-sale goal. I don't know why someone hasn't come out with this before, but I think it's a great idea. You can pick one of these up for $17 on presale over at quirky.

Menas Zoom - A Magnifying Glass with Zoom!
Wednesday, January 12, 2011 12:02 PM

This little product lands in the category of not very practical and expensive but cool. It's a reading stone that uses the benefits of aspherical magnifying glass. It's the best of both worlds you get the benefits of aspherical hand-held magnifying glasses, but with the light accumulating effect of a reading stone. That and you can adjust the zoom on the glass without distorting it. All in all pretty cool, but I'm not sure it's worth the $135 price tag. I don't spend enough time looking at documents or reading books to make it worth that kind of money.

Lego iPhone 4 Case - Turn your iPhone into a Lego Playground
Tuesday, January 11, 2011 12:12 PM

If you are a fan of the iPhone and love Lego then this is perfect for you. This case features a Lego like pattern on the back which are compatible with Lego bricks. It can't be a Lego iPhone case officially because of licensing issues but Lego bricks fit this imitation. If you are the kind of person that like to build Lego accessories for your electronics this could make things a lot more interesting and fun. You can pick one of these cases up from Amazon for $19.99

The Vyne - Moldable Plastic Strap that Lets you Wear Your iPhone
Thursday, January 06, 2011 12:49 PM

The Vyne is a flexible piece of plastic with a clip on the end for holding your iPhone or iPod Touch. You can bend it to fit around different objects and like in the picture around your neck. It's sort of like a gorilla pod, but with only one long plastic leg.

I'm just not sure about this contraption. I think this falls in the category of "would be useful if I were geeky enough to wear it." I mean could you really see a business man on a play wearing this thing around his neck? Maybe it would be better to simply wrap it around an object for hands free viewing.

No word on what the price will be, stay tuned.

CardSharp - Superlight and Supersharp utility knife that's the same size as a credit card
Tuesday, December 21, 2010 12:53 PM

Being from the south I think it's always a good idea to have a knife on you. You never know when it could come in handy and it's nice to have one when an opportunity presents itself. There are several ways to go about caring a knife. You could simply carry one around, put one on a keychain, or like this knife keep it in your wallet.

This knife can go from your wallet to work with three simple folds.  It features a stainless steel surgical blade that offers a rust free knife as well as super sharpness. The little device isn't on the market just yet, but will come available until the first quarter of 2011, so sometime in January I assume. The knife will be sold for around $23, which isn't bad for such a unique and handy knife.

Check out how this this thing folds out.

3-1 iPad Camera Connection Dongle
Tuesday, December 14, 2010 1:36 PM

Everyone likes to complain that the iPad doesn't have built-in USB connections or memory card card ports and I'm sure Apple did that on purpose. They don't want ugly ports and connectors crowding the simple design for the iPad. Apple did however give you 3 dock connecting dongles that allow you to connect your USB devices and insert memory cards. Why should we have to keep track of three connectors when we can do it in one. Behold the 3 in 1 iPad camera connection kit! It's about time someone decided to make one. The device should be available soon for $25 over at the M.I.C store. At $25 it's still less than the official Apple Connection set.

Le Whif - Breathable Chocolate, Makes it to US stores in time for Christmas
Monday, December 13, 2010 2:54 PM

You may or may not have seen this french product floating around the internet, it's called Le Whif and it's breathable chocolate, coffee, and even vitamins. All you have to do is pop the little cap up and put it in your mouth and breath in. The little particles then collect on your tongue letting you taste the chocolate or whatever flavor you happen to have.

why would you want to simply breath in some chocolate or coffee? Well not sure you don't really get the benefit of eating or drinking coffee so perhaps it could help you cut back on either. I'm not sure if the product will take off but it's for sure interesting and novelty enough right now that it would make a great Christmas gift or stocking stuffer.

You can get 3 of them for about $6.99 which sounds a bit pricey if you ask me, but for something that unique I guess it's pretty reasonable. They offer a 3-pack of chocolate and a 3-pack of coffee. You can as get a 3-pack of one each of Chocolate-raspberry, Mint chocolate and regular chocolate.

iFan - Wind Powered iPhone Charger
Thursday, December 09, 2010 2:51 PM

It's no secret that the iPhone goes through a lot of battery. You pretty much need to charge it everyday if not more than once a day. Perhaps it's because you can't keep your hands off the device and spend half the day playing with it or perhaps the battery is just too small. Either way you look at it you end up charging the phone a lot.

So why not find new and interesting ways to charge your phone on the go. Other than conventional ways of charging your iphone, you know like with an outlet, you might have seen solar chargers for the iPhone. Well how about a wind powered charger? Why not right?

I could see this coming in handy while out on a boat or on the beach when there is no sun. This wind powered charger can completely charge the phone in 6 hours which isn't bad for wind power, I would have guessed longer. no word yet as to whether or not the device will actually go into production, but it's interesting all the same.
