Title: Featured Artist: Fra Angelico
The Metropolitan Museum has an exquisite exhibition of the renaissance painter Fra Angelico. The paintings of this Dominican friar are characterized by its grace and elegance, color and light and a feeling of serenity as well as perfect form. Many of the works on view confront disassembled altarpieces and reliquaries and some are been reunited at this museum for the first time.
Fra Angelico came from a wealthy family he learned to paint and then entered the Dominican convent of Fiesole during the years of 1418 to 1421. The convent of Fiesole demanded and strict observation of the Dominican rules and norms that gave the order its great prestige and allowed for its intellectual growth.
The metropolitan museum’s exhibition of Fra Angelico offer without doubt and opportunity for visitors to view and experience one of the most sublime works of art of all times.
