Title: Auguste Rodin's work on display in Mexico City
Auguste Rodin (1840-1917), the french sculptor is considered the greatest of his days, he freed sculpture from the idealizing conventions of the time by his realistic treatment of the human figure introducing a new boldness of stile and expression. Among its work on exhibition at the atrium of the church of San Francisco in down town Mexico City are the thinker, the kiss and the burghers of Calais. The thinker was originally conceived as a seated figure of Dante for the Rodin’s monumental set of doors the gates, of hell which he never completed. The exhibit is formidable and breath taking I recommended to those visiting this city during the next two weeks.
