Title: The Oscar Statue
The first Oscar ceremony took place at the Roosevelt hotel during a dinner with 250 participants. The ceremony as we know it today started in 1941 and its first televised transmission occurred in 1953. Next year NBC had Bob Hope as a master of ceremonies. For many years later on the ceremony took place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion but starting 2002 it moved across the street to the Kodak theater. The statue was designed by the art director of MGM Cedric Gibbons and created by the sculptor George Stanley in 1929 it weights 10 pounds and is twenty five centimeters tall.
