The nomination of Ben S. Bernanke to succeed Alan Greenspan as fed chairman was an excellent choice of president Bush. Mr. Bernanke has impresive credentials and an impecable reputation in Wall Street, congress as well as in the academic world. Practically an unknown four years ago this university professor has emerged as the best and most deserving of all candidates.
