Title: U.S. Economy after Katrina

U.S. consumer spending fell last month in August, hopefully the economy will recover but it may take three to four months to do so. Katrina hurt the economy and it will take sometime before consumer spending stabilizes again.

As we have seen, the effects of Hurricane Katrina have effected our economy much longer than 3-4 months. The economic implications of damage on such a wide scale will take years to counter. If you are from New Orleans, this timetable is severly lengthened. While reconstruction is underway, they are a long way from completion.
