Title: The New Texas Drug Problem
A few years ago, Plano Texas had a drug problem involving the mixture of Heroin and sleeping pills. Now, in Dallas, authorities are dealing with a new problem surfacing. The new drug is known as "cheese" due to its supposed resemblance to parmesan cheese. It is composed of Heroin and cold medication that can be purchased at any local pharmacy. Although the levels of Heroin are generally around 3%, the doses vary widely and can reach levels of up to 10%. These variations have led to at least 21 confirmed deaths in the Dallas area. While these numbers are small in the world of drugs, they represent a new breed of drug trafficking. The dealers are targeted students as young as 11 and 12 years of age. Because of the "cute" name attributed to the drug, and its cheap price ($2) per hit, it is an attractive purchase for younger kids. This is perhaps the most disturbing fact surrounding cheese. Authorities in Texas are hard at work trying to make arrests higher up the food chain then the local dealers. To stop this new fad from becoming an epidemic, they must cut the drug off from its source.
