Title: Touch screen from Microsoft.

Microsoft took a step towards the future unveiling their new line of computers that are completely touch screen enabled, ridding use of the mouse. Microsoft said they hope to be rid of the mouse and the keyboard by 2009. I wonder how this technology will be accepted by the public.

I don't think they will ever be able to completely remove the mouse and keyboard...or not for many years at least. Users want some feeling of control over their machines, and how can you correct a problem if the computer isn't understanding your voice commands without a keyboard and mouse? It is possible to engineer a computer for completely voice activated use, but like you said, who knows how the general public will react. Personally, given Mircosoft's inability to create anything that their users actually WANT lately, I am holding my breath about their abilities now. I think they should find a way to fix their security problems first, and then get back to their bleeding edge technology.
