Title: BCS Fails Again

For all of you college football fans out there who care about the championship game, even when your team isn't in it: I feel your pain. This year wasn't the first time and it won't be the last, when the Bowl Championship Series will fail us in our pursuit for college football's best. In case you are unaware of what I'm talking about, the University of Florida was chosen to jump Michigan in the BCS rankings after a poorly won game against Arkansas last week. Nevermind that Michigan is also a 1-loss team, and their only loss was to the number 1 team, on the road, by 3 points. Need I say more? I have the distinct feeling this year will resemble the USC/ OU "game" that can really have only been described as a shellacking. I hope UF gets man-handled beyond all repair to prove once and for all that the only true system is a playoff system. But really, even if Florida were to win the game, it doesn't prove that they deserved the title over Michigan, the only way to quiet all discontent about the truly deserving team is to have a PLAYOFF! I hope we are only a few more years away from the change. Each year that passes we gain more and more support for a playoff from teams, fans, coaches, etc who have dealt with the wrath of the computer.
If you are wondering how this is a business topic, it's because the current bowl structure provides so much money to the universities involved. Until a thorough playoff system can be designed, we won't be getting anywhere.
